In 1999 King County incorporated the city of Sammamish and construction on the cities plateau exploded. Overlooking Lake Sammamish, with a plethora of land ready to be developed, the plateau has become an area filled with high-class residential neighborhoods and some of the state’s best public and private schools. Attracting a crowd of primarily upper-middle class families, with over 80% of its residents being Caucasian, it may not seem like the Sammamish Plateau would be a hotbed of political action. However with its party lines drawn nearly 50-50 the plateau is not exactly died in the wool for one side or the other, making caucuses and primaries that much more important. There is no lavish entrance to the plateau, but upon finding your way out of Issaquah you know you are on the right track when the rows of newly constructed homes lining the plateau’s hills come into sight as you ascend the steep roads that lead up it.
It’s no secret that the area is booming, with the population poised to surpass 40,000 according to the Sammamish Review. Construction of new developments and business areas accumulate fast on the empty plots of land, as the plateau continues to develop. The median age is 35 with nearly 80% of the population married, and more than 50% having children.
The plateau ranks 11th in per capita income out of 522 areas ranked in the State of Washington, with a median household income of $101,592 according to 2000 Census data.

Clinton is leading with Senior Citizens. Sen. Clinton is also taking a strong lead in votes from married men and women, according to exit polls from the Democratic Primary in Florida.
