After pleas from candidates, Sammamish is bracing itself

“Caucus for me tomorrow and together we will change the country and the world!” Some inspiring words from Sen. Obama’s Key Arena speech as he, and several other candidates, converged on Washington State this week.

With urges from Obama and Clinton to trundle into the caucuses this weekend, voter intensity is heightening in Sammamish’s 5th district. Democratic organizers expect double the turnout of the 2004 elections.

Hank Thomas, the Area Caucus Coordinator for the precinct, said the last eight years have been nothing short of disaster, which strongly resonates among Washington voters.

“Democrats are fed up and we want changes yesterday,” Thomas said.

The 5th district has over 80,000 registered voters and a widely conservative base. Each of the State Legislators in this district is a Republican. However, Thomas said the area’s political hues are becoming brighter and Democrats are gaining prominence.

“We hope to give them a voice Saturday,” Thomas said.

Caucusing begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. Saturday and 5th district Dems. can find their location here.
