If you thought the Washington state caucus this Saturday is just a two hour event, think again.
As proven by the sudden visits from each major campaign - Clinton last night, Obama this morning, and McCain and Mrs. Huckabee’s visits today - Washington’s delegates have turned gold (at least for the Democrats, who are battling for 80 caucus-chosen delegates; the Republicans can win only about 20 delegates). That alone is cause for celebration!
And what better way to celebrate our state’s new found glory than debating the issues with friends old and new at your local hangout? That’s what many Washingtonians will be doing beginning Friday afternoon through Saturday night. Whether you’d like to learn the intricacies of the caucus system or watch the results pour in, citizens have arranged get-togethers at local bars and cafes throughout the area.
Hillary fans will be joining at Purr Coctail Lounge in downtown Seattle to help you find your caucus location and have some “fun and fellowship.” Obama troops will meet at Shawn O’Donnells restaurant in Everett after the caucuses on Saturday to “celebrate the results of all [their] hard work for Barack.” These and more can be found through the links below (events for the Republicans are scarce, however, with a smaller stake in the Feb. 9th contest). Don’t see one that works? Make your own and invite your friends!
As thrilling as last week’s Super Bowl parties and twice as important, here’s a chance to party with your political neighbors and witness democracy at its most fun.
