As I checked in with various precincts while they tallied their results, several seemed to be heavily in favor of Obama. Liz just reported to me that 7 of the 19 precincts meeting here favored Obama.
Alicia Moneyhun, the enthusiastic Clinton supporter I spoke with earlier, seemed dejected as she told me that 80% of her precinct voted for Obama. She is an alternate delegate for Clinton.
Neal Rogers, a first time caucus participant and former Edwards supporter, expressed his discontent with the national process of primaries and caucuses. He said Washington is “geographically discriminated against,” as Iowa, New Hampshire and several other states get to vote before our state and narrow down the candidate options. He thinks there should be a national primary on one day so everyone has an equal chance to vote for the candidate of his choice.
Although Rogers wanted to be able to support Edwards, he said, “I’m happy to vote for Obama. He’s a little more electable over McCain.”
Mary Ellen Sheridan, who appeared to be in her 60’s, told me she voted for Obama. She remarked, “People think the older women are for Hillary, but it was the young girls who voted for her. Some of us are smart enough… she’s got more corporation money than anyone else. That’s what’s ruining our country.”
The cafeteria is almost completely cleared out here at the Democratic caucus on the Sammamish Plateau. I just received back-to-back phone calls from my mom and a friend of mine, both of whom told me how much they enjoyed their caucus experiences. My mom’s boyfriend, my friend, and my friend’s roommate are all delegates for Obama.

Just back from my caucus in Bellevue which had seeral dozen precincts. The organizers didn’t announce totals but in an informal canvas it looks like Obama lead in “votes” by 4 or 5 to 1 and in delebates by about 3 to 1 over Clinton.
