Sammamish GOP caucus meeting about to begin

Precinct meetings underway

By Brad Zimmerman and Will Mari

“We’ll try and be as expeditious as possible; remember, we’re Republicans,” said Dave Irons, GOP the precinct captain.

He’s speaking behind me and introducing the caucus process, explaining some of the rules and what’s going to happen next, especially the 1:30 break-out meetings of the individual precincts.

John Tuohy, a Air Force vet who served in Korean in the early 1970s, is sitting in the back.

Tuohy is open-minded: he’s trying to decide between Sen. John McCain and Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee.

“It comes down to who’s electable,” he said. As for why he’s here, “I just went to see what it’s all about, and how it plays out. It’s really a civics lesson,” he said.
