Obama and Clinton debates set

6:51 am February 12th, 2008 by UWDomke · 1 Comment

Hillary Clinton has challenged Barack Obama to engage in one-on-one debates weekly for the remainder of the presidential campaign. Obama has said he wants to spend his time with voters on the campaign trail, but this morning the campaigns announced two debates.  The first will come February 21 in Austin, Texas, and will be cosponsored by CNN and Univision — ensuring a wide audience among English and Spanish speaking voters.  The second will be in Cleveland, Ohio, on February 26.

The debates are set for the two states that are emerging as the linchpins in this campaign: Texas and Ohio.  Both hold primaries on March 4, and Texas’s 193 delegates and Ohio’s 141 delegates will go a long way toward determining the party’s nominee. Click here to see the number of delegates allotted to each upcoming state in the Democratic Party campaign. Currently Obama has 1,144 total delegates to Clinton’s 1,138, with 2,025 needed for the nomination.
