The University of Texas Obama headquarters, located on the west side of campus, is pumped up and making things happen today for Barack Obama. Some volunteers are working up to 18-hour shifts. There are thirty five interns working in the headquarters regularly, but there are also many, many, volunteers from all over the country.

Just a couple hours ago Max Kennedy, son of late Robert F. Kennedy, spoke to a crowd of two hundred students. He was here to inspire the crowd and encourage them to caucus for Obama. He spoke of the late John F. Kennedy and he said: “his presidency had Republicans on staff.” He explained that even though the late President Kennedy and many of his staff disagreed based upon their political ideologies, “it was about figuring out what was best for this country.”

After he spoke to the attentive crowd, Kennedy stayed around for pictures and talked about how Obama inspired him by saying: “he captured my heart.” Kennedy has been all over Texas recently including Houston, Dallas, Ft. Worth and is scheduled to speak again in support of Obama later this afternoon in San Antonio. But before he escaped out the door, Kennedy spoke passionatly about how much the country needs a president like Obama. “I have never been so excited for a campaign in my adult life, and filled with hope for the future.”

The headquarters, which is plastered with posters of Obama everywhere, is beginning to fill up for Michelle Obama who is scheduled to speak at 4:30 pm. She will be here to encourage all who attend to make phonecalls and knock on doors for Barack Obama.

More to come on Michelle Obama soon…
