To kick off this exciting Texas polling day, I just wanted to share what must be Texas State Representative Mark Strama’s current favorite story (I’ve heard him tell it twice in the past few days).
He told it last night at the University of Texas Obama campaign office before Michelle Obama spoke.
Strama said he once met with Barack Obama and angled for the Vice Presidency. Obama laughed when he realized that would mean an “Obama/Strama” ticket.
“What’s so funny?” Strama deadpanned.
Apparently, Obama thought it would be a clever ticket, but preferred the sound of a ticket with Austin Mayor Will Wynn as V.P.
This would be, of course, “Barack Obama/Will Wynn 2008.”
Check back often for on-the-ground reporting from Austin all day today!
