GOP voting for the Donkey

This election could make history in more than one way.

Yes, it’s true. We all know that this election is a historical one, to say the least. We have the first African American candidate, and the first female candidate, to make it this far in the Presidential race, ever.

Pretty remarkable.

But in addition to these notable points, the Democrats, as a whole, are taking the country by storm.

Throughout this entire election, the numbers of people coming out to support the Democrats have outnumbered the Republicans by the many.

On Super Tuesday, the Democratic voters outnumbered their Republican counterparts by 73 percent, according Swampland, a Time blog.

But now, with John McCain as the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party, the Democrats continue to gain momentum and support…from the Republican Party?

It’s true, Ann Coulter, author of “If Democrats Had Brains, They’d Be Republicans,” has announced that she would rather campaign for Clinton than support McCain, saying that Clinton is “more conservative.”

Here’s a video of her statement from Fox News.

Even super-conservative, Rush Limbaugh, is urging support for Clinton.

He is doing so because he says he would rather see a Democrat in office than Sen. John McCain.

Many are crediting Clinton’s win in Texas to Limbaugh’s ploy. The traditionally red-state, home of President Bush, is Limbaugh’s court, and the people listen to him.

The problem with this, for the Republicans at least, is that his urging of Republican voters to vote Democratic is taking away from the already diminished Republican support. It could be enough to push the Democrats way ahead, come November.

Limbaugh even invited former President, Bill Clinton, on his show the day of the Texas primary. You can listen to the show here.

So while McCain has won the battle for the nominee, it appears that Democrats might win the war…and the White House, with united Democratic and Republican Parties.
