Supporters being Unsupportive…how annoying

March 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Much of the time this election, it hasn’t been something the candidate has said about the other that has raised controversy, it has been the comments made by supports of those candidates that have landed them in the disapproving public eye.  Ultimately it ends with the candidates having to fire friends and discredit their comments […]

Sticky Situation In Florida

March 11th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Florida has had a tough time throughout this whole caucus/primary process. Florida attempted to move their primary up, against the rules of the Democratic National Committee. Florida was stripped of all her delegates in the 2008 presidential race.
The last state to face such harsh punishment was Delaware. However, Delaware is no Florida.
There has been uncertainty […]

A Different Sort of Year, the Same Negative Campaigning

March 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments

About a month ago, I had a friend come up to me and ask me what the difference was between “pledged delegates” and “super-delegates.” More than being flattered that she had come to me to explain this confusing part of politics, I was shocked. For this wasn’t just any old friend.
This was a friend who […]

Obama wave, beaten, not broken?

March 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments

By Charles Cadwallader
SEATTLE, WA – One week ago I was sitting in a jet on my way back to my home state of Washington, I had just spent the previous five days frantically running around Texas reporting what our professor has called the “primicaucus.”
Now I’m back in Seattle and still covering the ongoing nomination race […]

GOP voting for the Donkey

March 11th, 2008 · No Comments

This election could make history in more than one way.
Yes, it’s true. We all know that this election is a historical one, to say the least. We have the first African American candidate, and the first female candidate, to make it this far in the Presidential race, ever.
Pretty remarkable.
But in addition to these notable points, […]

The next Vice President…?

March 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Lately I’ve been wondering, if not a Clinton/Obama ticket than who?
There are so many potentials for Vice president, both on the Democratic ticket and the Republican. Come National Convention time, a presidential nominee will be chosen, a vice presidential candidate will be decided on soon after. A running mate is usually chosen in such […]

It’s not a race, but it is a competition

March 11th, 2008 · No Comments

A few weeks ago when I interviewed the mayor of Akron Ohio, Donald Plusquellic (who has openly endorsed Hillary in her bid for president), for an article about negativity in Clinton’s campaign he made an offhanded comment that seemed like a fluke. Therefore I decided not to include it in the article when he mentioned […]

Clinton-Obama in ‘08? Not Quite…

March 10th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Democrats it seems like a dream sequence, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton deciding to run on the same ticket as they battle campaign McCain for the presidency. Clinton-Obama is the combination of two forces which seemingly couldn’t lose, right? While it seems like an enticing scenario, its one team Obama is not ready to endorse.

Steinem On McCain: The Media Got It Wrong

March 9th, 2008 · No Comments

by David Domke and Devon Mills
Gloria Steinem’s words in Austin, Texas, this past week about John McCain have been twisted and used to launch a partisan attack — on her and on Hillary Clinton by extension. No surprise there, perhaps. We know this because one of us, Devon, was there and David, who is the […]
