The latest Rassmussen reports show that Gov. Christine Gregoire is holding an insignificant lead over Republican Dino Rossi.
The telephone survey of Washington voters shows Gregoire at 47% to Rossi’s 46%.
“The numbers were reversed last month, when Rossi had a one point lead in the match-up. Four years ago, the 2004 election between the same two candidates was one of the closest elections in the state’s history.”
Nearly half (46%) of Washington residents gave Gregoire a good or excellent rating, and 25%, a poor rating.
The Seattle PI reported that Rossi is building a strong online presence on Facebook and Myspace, a strategy also used by Barack Obama to target young voters. While it’s difficult to determine what threat this might pose to Gregoire, Rossi can certainly brag about having waay more friends. 1,548 to 174 on Facebook.
“When the last race came down to 129 votes, we’re looking for 129 votes wherever we can find them — and maybe that’s Facebook,” said Rossi campaign spokeswoman Jill Strait.
Starting Monday, Gregoire will try to widen the gap between herself and Rossi by busing to 10 cities in Washington State. I’ll be sitting on that bus, meeting with people on the road, speaking with Gregoire herself and maybe.. initiating a sing-along. Check back for reports and click here for her complete schedule.
