The U.S. economy is the top issue in America.
A new poll shows Americans are not too happy with the direction America is heading. From the New York Times today:
“In the poll, 81% of respondents said they believed, “things have pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track,” up from 69% a year ago and 35% from early 2002.
This can’t be good for McCain, who is endorsed by President Bush.
A report issued today shows 80,000 jobs were cut in March.
McCain may have a difficult road ahead, this is not going to help him at all. McCain has been traveling across the U.S. on a biography tour. His most recent biography tour stop was yesterday in Jacksonville, Florida. In his speech, he briefly addressed the economy, but spent more time speaking about his youth, military service, and war.
He may have to start spending more time talking about resolving the economy issue, it is clearly on the minds of millions of Americans.
