On the road in Indiana: Pentecostals and picnics - a quick preview

SOMEWHERE IN EASTERN INDIANA-  We got out of the service at Victory Apostolic Faith Church in Haughville, in Indianapolis’ west side, and now we’re heading north to Fort Wayne, through rolling farm land, where the Obama campaign’s holding a picnic.

Yes, a picnic. Obama and his family are supposed to be there, so we’re hoping to perhaps catch a glimpse of him. If not, we’ll at least talk to some of his supporters, even some of these “working-class white voters” we keep hearing about.

At Victory Apostolic, we were greeted warmly by the Pentecostal congregation, including the pastor, Bishop William Harris, and Olgen Williams, an elder at the church and the deputy mayor of neighborhoods in Indianapolis.

Stay tuned for more updates from the road.
