Oregon Victory for Obama Tonight

10:28 pm May 20th, 2008 by lauram · No Comments

Barack Obama won the Oregon primary tonight. And although it may not be a big surprise, it’s still an important victory. The results of the Kentucky and Oregon primaries have made him the majority leader in pledged delegates. He will now continue his argument with super-delegates, and the results of tonights primaries only solidify his case with them.

Obamas speech in Des Moines, Iowa tonight was clearly a message to a new beginning. He represented family values, as he appeared with his wife and two daughters. He spoke to undecideds, Independents, and Republicans in a crucial state that represents an important general election state. And yes, many white voters too.

Note how many times he says the word change in his speech. It’s several. His message is clear. And also, listen to his tribute to Senator Clinton. His words are memorable and of course, very well spoken. As a mother of two daughters, I will be forever grateful for Clinton’s relentless pursuit of her dream, and the trails she’s blazed along the way.

However, in the end, which is nearing soon, I don’t think her argument will win the super-delegates over. I think her argument is a solid one. BUT, his is stronger, and unless there is some unplanned random event or miracle, he is the nominee. So, the historic primary election moves closer to an end, and next up are Puerto Rico, Montana, and South Dakota.
