This video is from Talking Points Memo showing Hillary Clinton using the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy to make a point. Hillary Clinton has come out this afternoon and said she regretted what she said in the video, after it created some afternoon media buzz on TV and in the blogs.
Clinton used the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in June of 1968 as an example to illustrate how long candidates stay in the race. Note in the video, Clinton also mentioned her husband was still campaigning in June. The media is making a lot out of this. You decide.
Clinton was trying to illustrate the length of time that some primaries drag on. She knows she can state her husband Bill Clinton as an example (he was campaigning until June, thats a fact), and she did. She also mentioned the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in June when he was campaigning in the California primary, thats a fact. Most of America remembers his assassination, and maybe she thought that would be a good example because people would recall and remember that primary was still going on in June.
Clinton apologized for her remarks and said she had no intention of being offensive. Considering the recent grim diagnosis of Senator Ted Kennedy, and many in the black community being worried about Obama being assassinated, I think she could have used a different example.
All this did was draw attention and analysis to comments that meant nothing more than an illustration of primaries that have lasted into June. It’s nothing to get excited about, but those who want the race to end, are going to analyze every sentence, and every word. What’s all the hype about, some primaries have lasted until June.

A real odd (shady) example to use to make a point about historically long nomination contests.
