Guam votes, is incredibly confusing

May 3rd, 2008 · 2 Comments

I’d almost forgotten about Guam, the U.S. territory island in the Western Pacific, because of all the focus on the May 6 primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. Guam voters weighed in on the Democratic candidates in caucuses on Saturday (technically “yesterday” for them - it’s already Sunday in Guam).
After reading about the confusing Guam […]

Clinton vs. Obama: States to Watch

April 1st, 2008 · 1 Comment

We’ve taken you to Idaho, back to Washington, over to Ohio and all the way down to good ol’ Texas. Many of us, and certainly the pundits and talking heads, hyped up Ohio and Texas as the decisive states in the race for the Democratic nomination. I was one of the few SeattlePoliticore reporters […]

Obama Wins Wyoming Caucus, Next Up Mississippi

March 8th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Results are in, and Barack Obama defeated Hillary Clinton tonight in Wyoming. Obama received 61% of the vote and Clinton, 38% of the vote. Twelve delegates were up for grabs, and Obama won 7, Clinton won 5. Although it’s not many, every delegate counts in this dead-heat race where less than 600 delegates remain.
Just like past caucus sites around […]

Now, on the small scale, 18 delegates is nothing to write home about, […]

Obama seems a bit shaken in San Antonio

March 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment

“Signed, Sealed, Delivered” is the song that’s playing as Barack and Michelle Obama walk off stage in San Antonio, but that title does not describe the Democratic nomination tonight.
Obama seemed a little shaky tonight - a little worried. It seemed that he spoke for no more than 15 minutes, reiterating to his supporters that […]

Uncertainty in the air

March 4th, 2008 · No Comments

“On the surface, it looks like Obama is really the front-runner,” Clinton supporter Melissa Guy told me Sunday. “But I think in Austin, it will be closer than they assume.”
After experiencing the overwhelming enthusiasm of students and volunteers these past few days at UT, it seemed Obama’s grassroots network was so strong that he […]
