Last night, a few big names chatted about the possible “dream ticket” of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Former White House Chief of Staff and U.S. Secretary of State James Baker, a Republican, and former President Jimmy Carter, a Democrat, agreed that Obama’s best chance at winning the White House is with Clinton alongside him.
We’ve mentioned […]

May 21st, 2008 · 5 Comments
The day after Hillary Clinton’s win in Kentucky and Barack Obama’s projected win in Oregon, both candidates have traveled to Florida to let Democratic voters know they haven’t been forgotten. Neither candidate has campaigned in the state since it was announced that it would be punished for moving its primary up - a move that […]

Obama/Clinton math still fuzzy
May 19th, 2008 · 4 Comments
I was flying on Frontier Airlines today, coming back from my conference in Stillwater, Oklahoma, when I decided that watching CNN on the plane was a great idea.
Wolf Blitzer was speaking to a correspondent, whose name I didn’t catch, who said that the Clinton camp is still working strongly under the assumption that they have […]

Clinton spins the math
May 17th, 2008 · 5 Comments
Despite many media outlets reporting that Barack Obama is ahead in all aspects of “the math” - popular vote, states won, pledged and superdelegates won, etc. - Hillary Clinton still argues that she can and should win the Democratic nomination.
Here’s her version of the math, as told during a speech in Kentucky:

The GOP is hurting…
May 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments
The writing has been on the wall for a while, but Republican spokespeople have stated over and again that the party isn’t in that bad of shape; in a down swing sure, just a little, but nothing too serious.

“It is time for me to step aside so that history can blaze its path,” said John Edwards when he dropped out of the presidential race in January. After months of speculation, it is finally clear that Edwards thinks Barack Obama will be the one making history.
Edwards will endorse Obama’s bid for the Democratic nomination […]

New math - but not the kind Clinton wants
May 14th, 2008 · 2 Comments
The necessary number of delegates a candidate needs to clinch the Democratic nomination has changed slightly, from 2,025 to 2,026.
This change in math occurred yesterday, as Democrat Travis Childers won a seat in the House in a special election in Mississippi. And, as Kos points out, he won by 8 points in a very […]

Clinton takes West Virginia in a landslide
May 13th, 2008 · 1 Comment
CNN’s numbers for West Virginia: with 20% of precincts reporting, Hillary Clinton has 63% of the vote (47,562) to Barack Obama’s 30% (22,824).
And of course, Clinton is the projected winner.
Clinton’s main argument stemming from her West Virginia win is that, historically speaking, a candidate needs to win the state to also win the White House.
Ok, […]
